Batteries in commerce and industry: hotel cases in Chapecó and Búzios
Marcelo Baseggio, director of Bold Energy, presented on Canal Conecta VI cases of batteries in commerce and industry: 70 kWh to cap a hotel's demand in Chapecó at 100 kW, 75 kWh of backup at a hotel in Búzios against losses of up to BRL 30,000 per season, and 1.2 MWh under construction at an events centre in Mato Grosso.
In these cases, the revenue is savings on the bill. The first battery auctions follow another logic: under ANEEL Public Consultations 22 and 23/2026, the auctions of 2 and 4 December 2026 contract power availability for 15 years, with operation from 1 August 2028.
Behind the meter, the return depends on each client's tariff and load profile, and it moves when the tariff changes. Combining peak shaving, solar shifting and backup spreads the return across different sources.
In commerce and industry, the battery pays for itself through each client's bill. Those who measure the load profile before sizing know where the return comes from and how long it lasts.
