Hydrogen Europe Research at European Hydrogen Week

Hydrogen trade fairs have stopped being prototype showcases and become meeting points between research and buyers. Hydrogen Europe Research is taking its own space at European Hydrogen Week 2026 at Brussels Expo, exhibiting from 26 to 28 October with 14 of its members, among them the German Aerospace Center, SINTEF, CEA and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology.

The money behind that ecosystem has a known size. The Clean Hydrogen Partnership factsheet published on the Horizon Europe national portal, dated February 2025, puts the budget at EUR 2 billion for the 2021 to 2027 period.

Publicly funded research has revenue until the project ends and none afterwards. That gap is where much of the technology stalls, for want of a customer willing to take the first industrial batch rather than for want of performance. A trade fair only addresses it when it produces a letter of intent.

Anyone shopping for hydrogen technology now finds assembled consortia and a shared entry cost inside a programme with a fixed horizon. Joining while that cycle runs costs less than commissioning development from scratch afterwards.
