Brazil registered 271,100 electrified vehicles between January and July 2026, more than in the whole of 2025, and already has more than 25,000 public and semi-public charging points, according to the reposted publication.

The publication lists the infrastructure demand that comes with this volume, but does not say who finances the installation of the points. ANEEL, on its institutional page Veículos Elétricos, updated on 30 April 2026, states that charging is an activity open to any interested party, with freely negotiated prices, and that it adopted minimal regulation so that the tariff of distribution company consumers is not affected by the service. The provisions are in Chapter V of ANEEL Normative Resolution 1,000/2021.

Outside the regulatory asset base, the charging station is a private asset remunerated by free pricing and by utilisation. The return depends on the occupancy rate of each point, not on contracted revenue, and the interval between the outlay and the use that pays for the asset is long.

The expansion of charging in Brazil is decided by the source of the capital that funds each point, not by the pace of vehicle sales.
