Intersolar Northeast returns to Fortaleza in 2027

The Brazilian solar sector's agenda for 2027 is starting to be set. The smarter E South America announced that Intersolar South America Nordeste returns to Fortaleza on 28 and 29 April 2027, with an official agenda open and declared themes of regulatory direction, investment and partnerships.

The backdrop to this discussion comes from an independent source. A Canal Solar survey of 31 August 2026, using ONS data, shows that solar generation curtailment in the country rose from 1,129 to 1,370 average MW between January and August, an increase of 21.3%, and that curtailment of the source for energy reasons rose 82.5%.

Curtailment does not reduce the plant's cost. Module cleaning, inverters, insurance and connection remain contracted while energy is no longer injected, and the fixed expense stays with the operator. The regulatory agenda announced for Fortaleza therefore has a concrete target.

The meeting arrives with the topic already quantified in monthly public ONS data, which allows it to move beyond diagnosis. What to watch until April 2027 is whether transmission expansion and compensation rules advance at the same pace as curtailment.
