In 2024, commercial and industrial storage mapped by Greener totalled 51 MWh. By June 2026, it was 732 MWh, and the segment's share rose from 7% to 38%, according to a post by Marcio Takata, CEO of Greener, promoting the Imersão Greener BESS C&I on 19 and 20 October in São Paulo. The post also cites around 62,000 A4 Verde consumers with economic attractiveness in a simulated scenario.

The baseline rules are already out. On 25 June 2026 ANEEL published Normative Resolutions 1,161 and 1,162. The second amended REN 1,000/2021: a consumer unit with storage and without micro or mini generation does not inject power, and the contracted demand associated with storage may be considered zero.

The open deadline is a different one. ONS and CCEE have 180 days from publication to propose updates to the Grid Procedures and the Trading Rules, which takes it to December 2026. That is where it will be defined how the battery interacts with the grid and with the market.

A4 Verde consumers can decide under the current rules. Those intending to sell battery services to the system have December as the date to watch.
