2029 and the valuation of energy injected by distributed generation

Post commented onPost by Marcio Takata: “Em 2029, a lógica de valoração da energia injetada pela geração distribuída muda no Brasil.” See the full post in the Linus publication ↗

In 2029 the logic for valuing the energy injected by distributed generation in Brazil changes. Marcio Takata, CEO of Greener, wrote that time of day, seasonality and consumption profile gain weight, and cited California, Germany, Australia and the Netherlands as markets in which the change in compensation was accompanied by growth in batteries.

The regulatory clock is already running. On 4 December 2025 ANEEL opened Call for Input No. 23/2025, on international models for valuing the costs and benefits of distributed micro and minigeneration. Under Law 14,300/2022, CNPE sets the guidelines and ANEEL then defines the calculation, to take effect at the end of the transition.

A DG plant is sold with a twenty-five-year cash flow, and the credit for injected energy accounts for a significant part of that flow. A portfolio with injection concentrated in the middle of the day tends to be worth less on resale; a portfolio with storage or with consumption matched to generation tends to be worth more.

The residual value of a DG asset ceases to depend only on irradiation and comes to depend on the hour at which the energy enters the grid.
